Coprinellus micaceus group | Primrose Campground
KEY ID FEATURES
Growing in clusters, or groups of clusters, in woody debris (chips), on stumps or around rotting logs. Can be found in urban environments.
Light-to-honey brown cap with a darker center "nipple", covered in specs resembling mica when young.
Fruitbodies "deliquesce" as they age, i.e. the caps liquify (self digest) into a black ink. Hence why sometimes referred to as "inky caps".
