KEY ID FEATURES
- Species and habitat are highly intertwined with this group, host trees being one key identification characteristic. Individual species can be host specific with mixed conifers, pines, cottonwoods, aspens, etc.
- This group of Corts has both a viscid (slimy) cap and stipe (hence the species name).
- Member of the Cortinarius subgenus Myxacium.
