KEY ID FEATURES
- Small fruitbodies growing amongst forest litter and decaying wood. Can be clustered.
- Tans, caramel-browns or orange-browns present in overall coloration. Gills same color as cap. Stipe can be much darker.
- Slight veil remnants may be present on cap margin. Cap often viscid.
NUTRITIONAL STRATEGY: Saprobic
SPORE PRINT: Brown-to-rusty brown
EDIBILITY: Unknown. There are highly toxic members of the genus.
SIMILAR SPECIES: Can be mistaken for Psilocybe or Hypholoma.

- NOTES: Clustered on wood chips on trail-side, 16-35 mm across, uniformly caramel-brown colored, slight umbo on disc. Gills very crowded, caramel-brown. PV slight, marginescent. Stipe with veil fibrils, darkening from base up, but grayish at extreme base. Odor earthy, taste mild.
